DID YOUR MAMA SHOUT

DID YOUR MAMA SHOUT “CLEANLINESS IS NEXT TO GODLINESS” WHEN SHE BEAT YOU INTO SUBMISSION TO CLEAN YOUR ROOM?

DON’T YOU WISH YOU KNEW THEN THAT IT ACTUALLY WASN’T A BIBLE VERSE? BUT THEN, IT MAY NOT HAVE HELPED YOUR PLEA FOR MERCY ANYWAY! LOL!!!

Your momma may have beat you so many times shouting this expression when you didn’t clean your room or pick up after yourself, that you actually thought it was a Bible verse, and had you believing you wouldn’t be on God’s good side until you did what she told you. For many it was a shock when you got older to find out it really wasn’t a Bible verse.

It was actually a quote from Francis Bacon who was quoting a 2000 year old Jewish proverb.

BUT, the Bible does say in Psalm 24: “Who may ascend the hill of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol or swear by what is false. He will receive blessing from the Lord…”

God is concerned with our hearts. He really wants to bless us even more than we desire to blessed – He’s that wonderful of a heavenly Father.

Thank you Father for the blood of Jesus that continually speaks from the Most Holy Place in heaven “Mercy” and thank You for your tender mercies and covenant compassion that are new every morning. Thank you for a clean heart and conscience through the precious blood of Jesus by which we may have faith and confidence to enter that Most Holy Place in heaven and enjoy your presence forever.

So even though its not an actual Bible verse, cleanliness is actually next to godliness. Psalm 66:18 says “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.

But if my heart and conscience is clean, then the potential for my faith is 1 John 5:14,15 “This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.”

That’s a very powerful “anything according to His will” promise from our Father!!! If your heart is clean – just ask with confidence!
